Conclusion of the 2023-2024 Brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) Risk Season

We want to inform you that the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) season for 2023-2024 will officially conclude on 1st May 2024. We understand that managing these seasonal requirements can be challenging, and we appreciate your support throughout this period.

Goods shipped on board vessels departing from BMSB identified target risk countries on or after 1st May 2024, will no longer be subject to BMSB seasonal measures, including the Seasonal Pest Inspection (SPI) upon arrival.

Target high-risk goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries and shipped on board vessels between September 1 and April 30 (inclusive) are subject to BMSB measures upon arrival, irrespective of the arrival date.

Importers are reminded of their responsibility to ensure that all imported goods remain free of biosecurity risk material throughout the year, not just during periods of heightened seasonal measures.

As a reminder, the BMSB season will resume on 1st September 2024. We will provide updated information closer to that time to assist you in preparing for the upcoming season.
